Brent David Pirkey was born in Waynesboro Virginia on December 19, 1975, the son
of David and Darlene Pirkey. He began singing when he was two years old. As a small
child his singing was featured at church and school programs. He was a member of the
children's choir at Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren and later sang in the adult
choir. His musical abilities were recognized at church and also at school where he was
selected to participate in the gifted and talented program for music.
In July of 1986 Brent expanded his interest in music by studying piano under the
guidance of Peggy Fletcher. Peggy was not only a great piano teacher, but also shared
her love of our Savior Jesus Christ. She continues to be an inspiration and a prayer
warrior. At the age of sixteen, Brent began to apply his singing and playing skills in the
recording studio making music with his high school classmates. He sang in the select
choir known as the Singing Sergeants and lettered his junior and senior year. At the
1994 spring concert at Wilson Memorial High School, Brent received the prestigious
George W Sergeant Choral Award. During high school he also participated in the
mentorship program at Major Recording Studio. There he learned the ins and outs of
the recording industry and the music business.
Brent has been singing for thirty years and playing the piano for 20 years. He has
recorded in Nashville Tennessee, and has produced five of their six albums himself.
Brent has his own recording studio and plays and sings nearly all of the instruments
and vocals heard in his recordings. He also writes, arranges, records, and mixes
instrumental gospel piano music. His music is played over thousands of gospel radio
stations across the United States and around the world. You have probably seen
Brent in publications such as "The Singing News", "Voice","Trade Review", and
"Gospel Notes magazines. Brent has performed all over the country including the
National Quartet Convention in Louisville Kentucky. He continues his travels
spreading the good news of Jesus Christ through his music and looks forward to being
in service at your place of worship.
